It's great bass playing and Paul is a fantastic bass player, but this is George. He confirmed it many times notably in an interview with the magazine Creem (he's doubling up the guitar line). Quote:

Creem: You also told me you played bass on "Old Brown Shoe."

George: It’s like a lunatic playing.

Creem: It sounds like McCartney was going nuts again.

George: That was me going nuts. I’m doing exactly what I do on the guitar.

Harrison did play bass on some Beatles recordings, they talk about that in the Anthology film. Doesn't take anything away from Paul, just like Paul playing drums on a couple tracks doesn't take anything away from Ringo.

I was shocked some years ago when I first heard that George played bass on this track. All my life I was thinking how great it was of Paul to come up with such a killer bass riff for George's song. George also played some bass on some of the Abbey Road side two tracks, which also surprised me. I guess Paul's influence was hard to resist.
