35 years ago Allynn Gooen was hired to perform a puppet show and then make balloons for his audience. He forgot his puppets. When the producer asked, "Where are the puppets?" he responded, "The kids are my puppets and the balloons are their costumes, sets, and props!"
He's been performing his original Goowin's Balloowins in theatres and festivals around the world ever since.

Do you have most of the props pre-made and then blow up parts f the outfit as you tell the stories?

I usually spend an hour or more before every show preparing the balloon house and a number of costumes and props. If folks comes early to my theatre shows, the "preshow" includes watching me inflating and twisting the soon-to-be show. There have been rare times (in the past 25+years) that traffic came to a stand-still and I walked into the show with no time to prep... in those cases I sweat a lot (I inflate everything by mouth) and the balloons are more simple.
