My father rode in one of those on the way to liberate Torbole with the 10th Mountain Division in 1945. They had to use them because the tunnels were impassable, or damaged by the Nazis. His unit liberated Torbole and was involved in nasty house to house combat with the Nazis, just days before their surrender.
