I did a fabulous photoshoot in NYC recently and I wanted you to see the behind the scenes fun! This was for a new book called Afro Scene. Afro Scene is an upcoming, chic photographic coffee table book documenting the culturally significant hairstyle known as the Afro. It will follow the Afro's roots from Africa to its present hip-hop rebirth with today's celebrities, notables and everyday people. Acclaimed photographer Hosea Johnson (Brandy & Amel Larrieux cover albums) will provide photography and Marcia Cole (Founder of AMBERmag.com and former Deputy Editor of Suede magazine) will provide celebrity interviews and other text. Although this book is a photographic documentary and not simply about celebrities, many of the famous have already posed for Afro Scene including: HGTV host, Tanika Ray; professional surfer, Trip Patterson; deejay and Founder of Black Girls Rock!, Beverly Bond and her entertainer husband, Bazaar Royale; hip-hop icon Lazyie Bone; NBA superstar, Josh Childress; actor, Rick Gonzalez; teenage girls' crush, Steph Jones; television personality, Quddus; L'Oreal supermodel, Janine Green; HBO's Boardwalk Empire actor, Michael K. Williams; Broadway actress and poet, Staceyann Chin; ATL rapper, Bone Crusher; Fuse TV host, Toure; EIC of Essence, Constance White and Atlantic Records' new standout artist, Kevin Michael. I was HONORED to be included!
Here is the great team that made me look and feel good!
