@ThaScenicRoute good point but Timbaland made a record with pretty much everybody when this came out and this record was sort of a downfall of both of them for a while. After this Chris went back to soundgarden (what the fans wanted) after this didnt work out. Sounds like selling out to me but then again i dont think selling out is such a bad thing.

First off, just because an artist changes genres doesn't make them a sell out. You wanna know what sell out is? An artist that PANDERS TO FANS and does what the FANS WANT. Doing what the fans want is an easy way to make money because it''s guaranteed to sell. This isn't guaranteed to sell, and it DIDN'T sell. So, if it didn't sell, how is he a sell out?
Chris WANTED to make this album and so that's what he did. Going with the mainstream, doing what everyone expects, THAT is selling out.
