An Indigenous burial ground/astronomical center is in danger of being destroyed by the Brightwater "development" company.

The site contains hundreds of buried Indigenous People and thousands of artifacts.

The site is acknowledged by The Smithsonian Institute for its "astronomical significance" and has been nominated twice for the National Register of Historical Places.

I understand and appreciate the whole "please don't pave over my ancestor's graveyards" thing, but the rest confuses me. What's the astronomical significance of the site, compared to any other place? Is there a stonehenge-style land calender there or something?

Second, the ENTIRE site was a "land clock". The village itself occupied the center, while the cemetery and other markers were laid out to correspond to the 4 cardinal directions: 2 solstices and 2 equinoxes. This is acknowledged by the Brightwater development company in the kiosk display that they have there at the site.
