  • Just love this recording. More than any other of her live Lucias (those other have mostly poor sound quality) this one shows her incredible talent in this role. Such a pity she did not record it in studio completely. The Lucia duet she recorded with Jan Derksen just makes ju feel what greatness could have come out of a Lucia studio recording with Deutekom. She was faaaaaantastic in this role. And her Eb are not to be believed. Not only full of texture and colour, but the ease.

  • Merci beaucoup.

  • @UturnatA2 I forgot to say. Christina is incredible!

  • many singers are so terribly centered on sound. That is not music! Christina uses whatever she has and lies her best to make the most incredible music. It's not the sound, but what you do with it. Especially Callas has understood that.

Easy singing is much more important, because then you can lay much more meaning in every other aspect of music.

  • @senmoet No need to compare her favourably to Callas, even mentioning that she was better than Callas. Deutekom hersefl would not agree. They were both fantastic and both brought so much excitement to the world of opera.

  • Interesting sound but, I feel, not a real understanding of bel canto, especially from the orchestra in the final cavatina - ponderoso!! However, a better sound than her 1970 St Sebastian and even the 1970 Amsterdam. But the glottal-stopping in the later runs really are awful - OK perhaps for Mozart. I'm afraid I'm a sucker for Sutherland.

  • che bella voce

  • Gagatura!

  • Those thrills!!

  • @Randidan Yes it is on cd. I have the cd. I's a double cd that came out in honour of her career. The cd is in some moving boxes so I can't look up the exact title...but it's the last Deutekom cd to come on the market. It has some really great, great stuff on that cd.
