The city of Lathrup Village has been nominated as a regional finalist for the Michigan Municipal League's 2009 Community Excellence Award. Lathrup Village won the peer-nomination in a spirited competition among several neighboring communities for its Timebank project, designed to nurture, inspire and motivate a network of neighbors to come together to create a caring and sharing community. Lathrup Village and regional finalists from the six other MML regions will compete in the final round of competition at the Leagues Annual Convention, Sept. 22-25 in Kalamazoo.
