In this video, Realplayer (version 11), is used to download a video of youtube to your hard drive.

Youtube automatically creates a version of any youtube video in the iPod MP4 format at to resolutions, one for viewing on an iPod, and if the video is at a high enough quality, a 720p HD Version, eg. for Apple TV or on your PC.
The extension to the video address to view it in the iPod format is:
&fmt=18
or
&fmt=35
and for HD:
&fmt=22
The Realplayer dowloader will store it in your videos folder, and in iTunes will be displayed when you add it in the Movies folder. In iTunes, right clicking the video, then going to Get Info, the video type can be changed in the Options tab to either Movie, Music Video, or TV show.
This also works for Mac OSX, but the videos are stored in the Movies Directory instead.
If you have a Zune, VLC can convert the videos into a WMV format for playing on those.
The Realplayer web downloader is compatible with Internet Explorer 7 & 8 and Firefox 2 & 3 on Windows.

Use "Zilla Tube" to download from YouTube to your computer...... at fast speed to your computer, and also play and convert to good quality videos/audio/etc so easily.
just google for "Zilla Tube", and download it from the first google search result.
It works awesome with "Zilla Tube" :)
