  • Who is the lady? Did she write this piece for the company? Inspiring to see a woman with a synth, as there seem to be few on YT. Synthiefrau's films and Lea on Dad's Minimoog show women enjoying synths and making good music. Why aren't there more women?

  • Hey Laura,

That image was part of a promo done by FutureMusic Magazine. There's a whole series of them if you know where to look. Try searching the Matrixsynth blog for "Future Music". Cheers!

  • This demo sucks balls. Badass synth, though.

  • 90's cheeeeeese. Sometimes I miss kitschy 90's "techno".

  • @MisterArray this cover was what started me out on the road to synth geek.

it called to me off the magazine rack

  • @elektrovert Keep in mind that the Microwave II/XT has 10 voices only and the demo song need to be shorter than 2 kB (!!). Now try to start your own demo song by following that rules ;-)

  • @Laura041974

actually there are plenty of women making electronic music.. some of the best in the producers in the world are females..

  • masterpiece of late 90's !!! i'd really like to have the new one blofeld

  • I got one to see what it would be like but didn't find it helpful because much was placed on recording music and assumed you had the means for this as well as not having to share a computer! The softsynths looked like it would be hard to alter parameters and read music while playing because how can you do both at the same time? Or can they get their music to come up underneath the virtual synth on screen?

  • Perhaps this is to show that you can transport it easily. Some synths would be heavy and difficult to move. I suppose the minimoog was the first one to be taken to gigs without a truck. There's a YT film of two chaps getting a broken Polymoog down in a lift from their flat at 1:00am! It's long and needs two to carry it. The heaviest things are big old organs that are pickup only in ads.

  • @Laura041974 I'd like to get paid to hold keyboards all day and pose for pictures, beats the dayjob!

  • @MisterArray Hey cool! - I remember that issue of Future music! - I no longer have that issue as its at least 12 years ago - I do remember that girl being quite nice on the eyes- the dream of every geek muso , or reality too, some of us did manage to get lucky from time to time.... but the Microwave XT/XTk is STILL a great synth- Im currently looking for one.

    thanks for the upload!

  • @MisterArray the yamaha cs6x girl was the best, hehe.

  • Yes she was part of Future Music mag, but only as a model. They had models routinely pose with keyboards. I just threw out the magazines I had. They were good in their time but nothing really beats the overall experience you get from the Internet with personal reviews, you tube videos, forums etc.
