How do you fix squeaky steering on 02 Taurus

@tbbbkb if it's inside the car, often plastic rubbing inside, or the universal joint on the steering wheel shaft going out. Remove the plastic covering and find out what's making it if inside the car.

This doesn't hurt the rubber at? For instance I know spraying a polymer based grease on rubber can break down the rubber over time..
