@lazarb020 It mainly was because I felt so stupid not realizing that 'chasing the dragon' was a commonly used metaphor. His remark pointed out that I had took the song for granted when I was angsty little teen and had never stopped to think about second meanings. I guess I'm not cursed with second sight afterall.

@cptbenjaminwillard So what? Yes it's about heroin, and it's about a past lover. Don't talk down upon addiction when people get to that point it opens a lot of new doors, a lot of new feelings, and a whole new world. Unless you've been there you wouldn't understand this song is very deep and it hits a spot in my soul and speaks the words no one would ever understand. I am glad that you stood up and said no to drugs, but please don't put people down who got themselves lost in that world
