It's summer 2003,
Somewhere out on the South Sussex Downs,
A free-party system is churning out beats,
To a field full of muppets & clowns.

The sun peeps over the tree-tops,
To herald a blistering morning,
When suddenly a strange white van pulls up,
And a drumkit appears without warning.

Mysterious men stagger dangerously round wielding
Out-of-tune guitars and wigs,
And proceed to set up their drum kit and amps,
Half in and half out of the twigs.

Soon bizarre mangled rhythms are drifting,
From the speakers in rough strangled waves,
The saucer-eyed punters are baffled,
"This isn't what happens at raves!"

...or perhaps it did, once, in a distant time...
