The Apprentice and The Journeyman continues the build of a Koa wood veneer jewelry box in the woodworking shop. On the wood lathe a handle for the lid is turned using lathe tools such as a spindle gouge with a fingernail grind and a diamond parting tool. (Koa is an exotic wood from Hawaii,)

Normally, I would have chosen a white or yellow glue to apply the turned knob to the lid. However, what you do not see in this video is that it was over 105 degrees in my Las Vegas NV shop at the time. I chose CA glue for an instant glue-up so that I could complete the project. In this case, the CA glue does not show or affect the finish at all.

I'd switch the CA glue for something that doesn't show when finished...

@AppJourneyman you would think they were easy too, ive jus turned four legs and its a good job the legs are 18" apart because there are a few obvious diameter differences lol

You're right! The same holds true for turning salt and pepper mills.

well turned. knobs are hard to make especially if your making more than one to match
