Many people in Germany believe that integration has failed. But through its creative approach, one school in Hamburg is proving them all wrong.

More than 70% of the students at St Paul's speak German as a second language. "The ones who are hardest to integrate are the Roma, who feel that their own lifestyle and culture are threatened by school," explains one teacher. But the school welcomes the chance to integrate these children. "We've built a project here where the children learn to work and get their bearings in Germany." The school's biggest success is the Student Company, in which children from different classes take turns cooking for each other. Parents welcome the St Paul's diversity. "We live in a multicultural society and this school prepares them for the world that confronts them when they graduate."
