Do I like "Big Oil"? Yes. Do I agree with their decisions over the past 10 years to not dump billions more into research for sustainable energy sources? No. But do I blame them for our recession or the banking "crisis"? No.
More money needs to be dumped into research for sustainable energy (including recovering oil from shales and sands). More nuclear power plants need to be approved and built. More oil needs to be drilled to help pay for it all. Period.
Flawed logic and irrelevant hyperbole. Yes, we need solar, but also feul cells, wind, nuclear, and YES, more drilling for oil (which buys us more than 50 years to refine all these new technologies.
