Canola oil is much different than Rapeseed oil! Rapeseed growth has been banned in Canada since the 1950's, therefore, when you have Canola oil, it is NOT rapeseed oil, it is IMPOSSIBLE! Canola was bred in the 1970's to have NO eurucic acid content. Eurucic acid is extremely bad for your heart, canola is high in heart healthy omega 6's and omega 3 oils, and linoleic oils. Canola is healthy for you, don't let this woman mislead you.

canola oil is more useful as a machine lubricant and fuel, than food. I use it to run my camp stove because it's cheap. I also use it in an old brass blowtorch. I've used it to solder and braze metals many times. It produces a clean blue/white flame when burned efficiently. It's a safe, non-explosive fuel for things like that, but should never be considered a food ingredient.

The studies that demonize trans fats/corn oil and other natural EDIBLE food oils were payed for by the canola oil industry so they could replace food for americans with POISON. It is also because corn oil is becoming highly prized as the new bio-feul where as canola is genetically modified and so toxic that insects won't eat it, plus it grows anywhere, unlike FOOD.
I think Canola Oil is well loved by cardiologists everywhere because it is lower in saturated fat than any other oil.
Good ole fashioned breeding (which is how we got ALL our farmed foods - duh) created the rape strain that has oleic acid in lieu of the erucic acid.
I am going to take a wild stab and say that perhaps the degree to which the replacement (of erucic acid with oleic) is incomplete [the ratio of erucic:oleic] is probably what makes a "bad" canola oil.

@BarclayAvenue10 Who knows if erucic acid is even bad for you in the first place? It got banned in Canada based on a single study, which was later proved to be flawed. And they continue to use it in Asia with no obvious ill effects.

Thank god this video came up when I Googled 'canola oil'. I'm making churros for my Spanish class today and need an oil for frying. Definitely not using canola.

@Rawrrrx19 Coconut oil is the best for frying. It doesn't damage as easily at high temperatures as polyunsaturated vegetable oils (which turn into trans fats). Google it! :)
