Everyone here is right- this is the Beach Boys for sure. I wasn't born until the 70's and I can tell. Though it's true that Jan and Dean collaborated with the Beach Boys on some of their songs and they were the originals for some BB songs,, this isn't one of them. This is the BEACH BOYS all the way!

@JJMFB1 Dean sang lead with Brian Wilson on "Barbara Ann." Jan was not there. And it was Carl Wilson who said, "Hal and his famous ashtrays". He was referring to drummer Hal Blaine of the Wrecking Crew. As to who was the true surf sound originals, I think history has answered that question. However, I do agree with you that Jan and Dean deserve to be enshrined in the R&RHOF. They were something special.

It was J & Dean with the Beach Boys they helped each other a lot,When you hear Barbara-Ann that is the so called Beach Boys,listen closely,the intro was clearly J & D,and when they say play the ash trays Carl that was Dean,and as it turned out J & D were real surfers,while the BB only had one member to get near the ocean,J&D were the true surfer sound originals,now that Half J&D are dead maybe they will get their rightful spot in the H of F,but not likely they are white

@foka24a4 Seriously? Come on now.

I agree that old school knows the difference in a heartbeat. theres no doubt that this is the Beachboys singing. Their harmonizing is soooooo recognizable.
This song is an American treasure.
