this is a rather minor event for the general public, but for power companies and the like, it's something they can't take lightly as they have to manage their grids to prevent multi-million dollar transformers from developing damage in these kind of events. if you all want to know what happens on earth in a major flare, take a look at the 1859 solar flare. it'll REALLY get you talking, especially when one back then could see aurora in Hawaii.

Well here it is... Today August 5th!! 2011, 5pm central standard time, and i havent seen or heard of anything from this "supposed" CME that was going to HIT us!! LMAO!! So watever to all the aholes that called ME an idiot! hahaahahahahaahhaa just more fear mongering... I still got my electricity, I have phone service, and have ALL DAY, and my internet hasnt glitched once!
