Check out this engine ingesting a Canadian goose-like bird not unlike that US Airways jet. These engines crank at around 10,000 rpm so anything that comes in their way gets magnified tremendously as shown. I understand they successfully ingest a couple pound bird but not an 8 to 10 pound honker!! I hated those geese in Chicago. Otis loved chasing them.

This is known as a 'blade out' test in the industry. As you can see there are several colored blades rotating in the engine when it is first started. The 'red' blade is ejected and a high speed camera captures the footage to determine how many other blades were damaged along with other parts of the engine.
Mass exploding.......... And that isn't a bird ingestion test lol..... It's a blade off test to make sure if the blade goes off during the airplane in the air, it won't damage the entire engine and explode the airplane.....
That´s a usual test of jet engines. One section of the propeller was blown off by an explosive charge. I´ts to make sure no rubble will penetrate the casing. 5/5
