How to Manually Configure Your Xbox Network Settings to get a Static IP Address

Read This First!!!!!
If you have ports forwarded to your Xbox you want those ports to go to the right IP address. Your router is not necessarily going to give the xbox the same IP everytime. The best way to fix your IP is through your router, but you can also configure your xbox to accomplish the same thing manually. I don't mention this in the video but change the IP address to something outside the DHCP range. Most likely something higher than 149 so make the last number in the IP address higher than 149 that way your router will not give another device your xbox's IP address. Make sure you go back into your router and change the ip your ports are going to, to match your new IP. For more info visit my blog about this subject.

Hey erm, if i have port fowarded to say 192.168.2.6 - will that work if i manually change the ip adress on my live

@CLERICCONOR You want to pick a IP that's just outside of your routers dynamic ip range so it will never give a device that IP. so if your range is 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.50 then you could give an IP if 192.168.1.51 or higher.

When I make a manual IP address and put it in my xbox it doesn't get picked up by my router or something because I cant connect to xbox live. Im having such a hastle trying to figure this out what do I do?

when on dns settings i then turned it to manual now it gives me the option to choose the primary or secondry dns server. what one will i choose?????????????

i dont even have anything in the automatic box... what should i do, it says "unplug your wireless router" so i did and i plugged it back in-still not working. it says i need an ip address... or a static ip address...please help.
