How to grill with charcoal. Visit www.summerkitchen.tv to experience a new video cookbook with delicious summertime recipes, perfect for your picnic basket or backyard BBQ table.

You will need:
grill
charcoal briquettes
lighter fluid
matches
wood chips
tin foil

1. Pour charcoal briquettes into a grill well to form a pyramid about 10 inches high.
2. Douse with lighter fluid.
3. Light with a match-never add lighter fluid to a lit fire.
4. The charcoal is ready when the coals are glowing red and coated with light grey ash, about 25 minutes.
5. To add a smokey taste to your food, you can make a tin foil wood chip pocket. First, soak wood chips in water overnight.
6. Take a large piece of tin foil and fold in half, then add the wood chips and fold the ends in, but leave a little hole so the smoke can escape once the chips start to heat up.

  • With both my wife and I working we never seemed to have the time to wait 30 minutes or more for charcoal to be hot enough to cook. Reluctantly, we switched to propane gas years ago. But we missed the charcoal flavor we'd grown to love. Recently, we SWITCHED BACK TO CHARCOAL all because what I created gets me grilling in just 8-12 minutes.

Please check out my FiAir videos here on youtube to see just how fast and fun grilling can be.

    Thanks

  • Wrong, use a chimney. No need to tarnish your food with accelerants.

  • got enough coals to cook the whole cow!!!

  • Food will taste better without adding starter fluid to charcoal. "Dry start" using a chimney starter and newspaper to start coals. Takes about 30 minutes for coals to get hot, and no petroleum flavor.

  • Way too much charcoal, you would easily overheat the grill using that much.

  • Is gasoline a cleaner burning substitute for low octane lighter fluid?

    yes?

  • ew briquettes and lighter fluid XP it should be done with natural wood charcoal and a charcoal chimney

  • @MagMonsta did this work for you? it worked for me and it was my first time too.
