Video of my trip from Darwin, NT to Uluru to see the Olgas and Ayres Rock on September 3-4, 2006. Much of this video was shot sadly on the day that Steve Irwin died.

  • What's the song? This is so cool. Why is it so

    expensive? Because it's so remote?

  • "Dead Heart" by Midnight Oil. I listened to it while I watched the Rock during sunset. It is expensive because the Resort there is a monopoly, so prices are twice or three times more expensive than in other places.

  • Wow, what a weird place, where the heck are you?

I never heard of these places.

  • It is in the Red Centre. In case anyone wonders, I did not and would not climb the Rock. There is a good museum there that explains the local myths about Uluru and Kata Tjuta. I hope you have fun cassidy, but beware, it is super expensive there!

  • @giltedged2 Actually the true name for it is Uluru as it is a religious.spiritual place for Aboriginies and Uluru is the Aboriginal name.

But a gorgey rock NTL !

  • uluru wasnt a volcanoe. it was connected with the olgas and other rock masses forming huge mountains which have been eroded by the high sea level millions of years ago. haha i just got back from there. drove from sydeny to there and back. 8500 km.

  • Best rock ever.

  • It is just a gorgeous huge rock with a beautiful name - Ayers Rock

  • Ayers*

  • The Olgas (Kata Tjuta) walks are the best!! Nice vid. Just come back; had a gr8 time -> wonderful place.

  • Dang! that really seems like 'ur "deluxe" rock for sure.

I'm just guessing, but most the time we see a formation rising up from the ground alone like this, it's origin is volcanic. Is it the remaining volcanic core of an ancient volcano?

    Just wondering. Tonks
