Mike Arnott is your average bloke who generally can't be bothered to even put the bin out, let alone separate his cans from his carrots. He wants to know; "can recycling work for me?". Cash for Cans recycling centres pay 30p for every 65 cans you bring them so Mike wants to find out if he can collect enough cans to throw his mum a really ace 60th birthday party. He'll scour the streets of London in the search for cans. No bin will be left unturned.

  • Good work Mike!

Here in Ontario, Canada there's a five cent deposit on beer cans. If half the cans were beer cans our man here would have $250CAN. Not a bad return on one day when you are down and out.

I find this short doc is interesting enough but it doesn't make any real point with much force. Is it about littering and lack of respect for public places, economic conditions and income, recycling? What exactly does Stella get out of this?

  • wow....i wanna start doing it but is it worth it? he spend his money lol in a lot less time than it took him to make it.

  • Saw this on C4 today.

I like the 3 minute wonders.

  • Dunno, but the message of this piece seems to be simply that recycling doesn't pay (at least if you go about it like Mike Arnott did). Personally I think recycling as a concept cannot be bad, but WE SHOULD STOP ACCEPTING THE ONUS BEING PUT ONLY ON US CONSUMERS, AND WAKE UP, GODDAMIT, WAKE UP!!! WHY DON'T GOVERNMENTS PASS LAWS THAT MAKE BIG BUSINESS GO GREEN & REDUCE THE NEED OF MOST RECYCLING IN THE FIRST PLACE?? BECAUSE BIG BUSINESS IS BIGGER THAN GOVERNMENTS, THAT'S WHY.

  • I love it because inspire us to think and act. This is a simbol. doing this way he inspires other to do a his - her part two. If each of us start doing something a big moviment will occur. All creative and unique parts put together means something bigger that the total.

  • I go through the trash cans and take out the cans and put them in my trailer, which is almost full. I help the enviroment and also make some money while at it. I go for miles on my bike and search for cans. I have a basket on the back and front of it. Usually both baskets are overflowing when I get back. I go about once a week.

  • you should have used public transport as it's more environmentally friendly! lol. nice video, illustrates a point well in an unusual way.

  • I think it's silly - cause the person just does it for television and not every day or for idealism.

  • I love this! Hilarious and inspiring in a funny sort of way...
