steel it self is hard besides this isnt practical its to bulky and in a survival situation i don't think your trying to cut down a very big tree just saplings. whats with the ladder though.

Hm so the basic problem with this is that it isnt set up to cut in both directions. The sabercut saw you saw online has its teeth sharpened in both directions, so you can cut in both directions. It could still work in only one, but would be slower. You could sharpen the other side, but I doubt many people know how to do that. Combined with the fact that Amazon sells the real thing for like $25, and that a chain saw blade costs about $15 - $20, depending on size, I'd say just buy the real one
