New Realities Mission Statement

I firmly believe that -- 'A mind stretched to new realities never returns to its original dimension.'
- Alan Steinfeld
New Realities is dedicated to exploring evolving human potentials in an evolving world. This series explores the idea of how to become more conscious beings. We present programs that invite the viewer to look at automatic behaviors and take free reign of their body, mind and spirit so that we can hope to inhabit and create a better world.
This program is constantly on the look out for new and different perspectives in achieving a greater and more peaceful reality for the planet. It is about embracing a synthesis of rational understanding with mystical awareness.
We must continually be on watch for ways in which we may enlarge our consciousness. We must not attempt to limit our slice of the world, which is given us, but we must somehow learn how to transform it and transfigure it. It is in the words of these great masters that the programs are dedicated to: "Our business is to wake up. We have to find ways in which to detect the whole of reality in the illusionary part which our self-centered consciousness permits us to see."
- Aldous Huxley
# "No great improvements in the lot of mankind are possible until a great change takes place in their mode of thought."
- John Stuart Mills
# "Those of us who seem most alien are the ones who are going forward to create the life as yet inchoate."
- Henry Miller, Wisdom of the Heart
# "We stand on the brink of a new age, the age of an open world, a time of renewal when a fresh release of spiritual energy in the world culture may unleash new possibilities."
- Lewis Mumford
# "History clearly teaches that new realities emerge when paradigms shift."
- John Lash, The Seekers Handbook

New Realities has over 300 interviews with powerful world leaders shaping new paradigms of thought for the 21st century. These interviews include such distinguished guests as: # Deepak Chopra - author of many best selling books on mind/body medicine.

# Ram Dass - formally Richard Alper, who with Timothy Leary lead a counter cultural revolution and later brought many people to an understanding of spirtuality

# JZ Knight - the channel for Ramtha, the Enlightened One

# Swami Kaleshar - 27-year-old manifesting master from South India.

  • Great stuff.

  • Although I can't claim to be an expert on Mumford, and his works are somewhat hard to find, my favourite is "The Myth of The Machine: II. The Pentagon of Power." However, you may find his book "Art and Technics" more interesting.

  • What is a good book of Mumford, particularly about the artist.

    I have The Human Prospect.

    Thanks

  • Mumford was a generalist in an age of specialists. He grew up in New York City and began writing in about 1920, his works tend to focus on the relationship between man and technics, among other revelations he points out that artistic, playful, and religious uses of technological advances precede their utilitarian applications. He is worth a closer look.

  • Can you tell me a little bit about Lewis Mumford? He seems to be the source of a lot of what became the New Age.

  • To the ancients, soul (anime) is the inherent yet passive principle which must be infused with spirit (animus) to have value. This concept was destroyed with the advent of the notion of an inherently individual soul.

  • Try to put up some Mumford videos if you can. I'd be happy to view them and make a comment or two.

As for ranking his greatness amongst Americans, well you may be right in terms of American born, but in terms of American citizens I'd lean slightly more toward Nikola Tesla.

I have posted a short clip from a documentary narrated by Lewis Mumford. The description contains a link to a fuller version of it.

I hope Harold and Gloria don't balk at me for using the video comments in this way.

  • "This is the only video I could find on Youtube that includes a quote from Lewis Mumford."

A sign of the times? I was looking for Lewis Mumford footage. I know there is some around, whithering away in the archives I guess. To me Lewis Mumford is the greatest American that ever lived.

  • This is the only video I could find on Youtube that includes a quote from Lewis Mumford.

Incidentally, there were 3 a-bombs in 1945. Trinity, Hiroshima, Nagasaki. America now has, reportedly, 10,000 nuclear weapons.

If these two gentlemen devolve to a shouting match, what hope do we have?
