If you are in favor of Australia or UK's laws or political system you have the right to live there....well...no...not in Australia, but the UK would probably welcome you. I do agree with you 100% on increasing the punishment for those that break the law. Most of the gun crimes are repeat offender that were "let out". However, in a case like Lanza where they are willing to die that doesn't work. Thats where I say Christianity comes in to play. The moral break down of the family is the root of today's problems. God already gave us His laws (10 commandments), if we all followed these we wouldn't have these problems. I appreciate your conversation.

I never said "give everyone a gun". Read the entire post before responding. If you don't want a gun, then you don't have to own one. But, if someone wants a gun they should have the right to own one provided they are not a felon or have mental illness. As far as kids and guns....that a parental thing. It's already illegal for a child to have a gun. How will the government make people more careful when cleaning a firearm? How will background checks disarm criminals? THEY ARE CRIMINALS!

If the government wants to pass a bill against slavery (which is still legal in the constitutions of many southern districts) I would not point out that the supreme court has already made it illegal and cry about it... I would acknowledge it as a formal gesture and move on with my life!

All that will do is increase the deaths caused by accidents and cases like the boy that killed his sister in Kentucky with a "Youth" rifle. Or the NJ case where the 4 yr old shot his 6 yr old neighbor for not letting ride his bike. Or the man who killed his 12 yr old while cleaning his gun. Gangs don't quit because rival gangs have guns! You MUST disarm the criminals and background checks help to do that!
