We use steel balls in varying sizes, determined by what size guns the real ship had.
They range from 3/16" up to 1/4" or 6mm.

1/144 = 1" = 144" (1" = 12')

how large is 1/144?

1/144 is a large scale for ships of this size. As another YouTube member kindly answered it simply means the ships are 144 times smaller than the real thing. Most battleships are over 1.5m in length.
