how do you do this with a computer out of your network?

the only way u could do it is to make a notepad file type in it "shutdown -s " without the quotation marks and save it as shutdown.bat that is the crucial part u have to save it as .bat . u can then send it to some1 and wen they open it their pc will shutdown

it does work on vista i think that message is because there aren't any other computers turned on, on the network
