Lens Review - Sigma 24-70 EX DG Macro

I show on video the focus speed of this non-HSM lens, its actually faster than some HSM lenses.

Does the HSM version do the same in regards to the lens being extended at 24mm?

@Crussy777 I don't take images at too low shutter speed even with IS, as I usually photograph moving subjects (people/animals). Keep your ISO so you can keep the shutter speed up. You can try it with your current lens, turn of the IS and see how you get on ;)

Remember that motion blur can't be fixed in post production, a bit of noise can be fixed easily.

Note that the speed of your kids is irrelevant to focusing on them. The question is, when you realize something is happening that you want to shoot, how fast will it acquire focus? I'd say around 1/3 of a second, depending on where it was last focused.

Faster than my Sigma 105mm EX DG Macro I use on my Canon 600D, but I use manual focus 90% of the time since its quite quick so don't really mind.

i used to own the same lens for my D7000. very sharp but has big time back focusing issue. even AF fine tuning doesn't help. :(

WARNING do NOT do that 'speed test' to many times !!!! IT WILL BRAKE the gears inside the lens, it's a very good lens but weak gears inside.......
