Originally built as a glider, to invade Britain, using very little strategic material and later fitted with surplus engines found in France after it's occupation. The engineering harps back to the 1920's only on a larger scale.ie- a steel frame covered with painted linen. The large front doors were a new idea, later used on a number of foreign designs such as the Bristol freighter.

this is actually one of the worst luftwaffe planes ever built, easy target, slow and as Hanna Rietsch said, it was so primitively built with almost impossible to move controls. it also cost a lot of lives of the people who were riding in it just because it couldnt take off. a very useless machine
