My 392 Hemi..This engine was stuck when i got it. I let the cylinders soak for one week and I made a Lever that I bolted to the flywheel and rocked it until it broke free. It has mechanical lifters.. it has dual points in it which I cleaned and has a good hot spark. It has two Carter single barrel Carbs which were nasty and corroded I cleaned them and they went right to work. The transmission is mounted on the front of the engine and shifts properly. It is fresh water cooled I have a garden hose hooked to the pump. This engine was made from 1957 to 1958 I will look up the model number and find out what year it is and post it. It came out of a twin engine yacht and my dad has the sister engine and I got this one.

  • if this has the trans bolted to the front, what bolts to the flywheel end?

  • @jeepers2655 Nothing bolts to the flywheel.

  • Very cool but it's not a 392

  • @Vintageguy73 It is a 392 CID

  • Did you find the number yet? it's on a machined lip in front of the valley cover.

Why would you paint it Chrysler Blue? That color is nice but it didn't come into existence until 1971. Correct color for a 392 is Aluminum Silver. Your engine is currently 331 light green.

  • @WhoSaidTyler I have not touched the paint on it, the engine was pulled out of the boat and was went through and before it was put back in whoever had it painted it the color it is now, I know were the data plate is and yes I know the number, It is a 392 CID hemi engine

  • Of all the big engines made during the muscle car era, the stock 392 is the most durable of them all. Long after the larger 426 Hemi was made available to Top Fuel engine builders, they still chose the 392. The original aluminum after market racing blocks were based on the 392.

  • @milessmithful

Would you be willing to sell one or both of them? I'm looking for a 354 or a 392 to play with a bit...

    Thanks!

  • very quiet for an V8 engine!

  • @jon4ford negartive sir, the 354 and 391 are the same, the 331 has the big bell housing on the back of it

  • @Vintageguy73, tell me how you would know by just looking at it.
