How to take great vacation photos and travel photos [P#004] - Whether you are a total beginner to photography or a seasoned semi-pro, taking vacation pictures can pose quite a challenge. It seems that good photos come about almost by random magic. This year your vacation photographs can be full of unique and attractive shots if you follow these simple rules.

  • Hey Hugo.. thanks for the comments. Yeah, you are right about the under water tip, but then I was aiming this more at the beginner and hence some clarity in terms of that. As for the notebook, you can not always take pics of signs etc (for example a photo of the lake with the swan in it) and later on would be difficult to remember if it was taken at noon or late afternoon or what lens I used (perhaps easy to figure that out) and so on... :)

    I use the 7D and waiting for 5D M3 when it comes out!

  • Great tips for DSLR Fans, greatly appreciated.

    Technically, you can already photograph under water without a filter as long as the body is dry. When you photograph at surface anyway, you should have enough light.

    For the note taking, I usually take a picture of the info like location signs or just monument description signs. This takes a little less time than notting it down in my opinion.
