Yes, I think Cubase SX3 is better than FL Studio 8. I have limited use with FL Studio though so don't hold my opinion too highly. The nice thing about Cubase, though, is that you can rewire FL Studio 8 into Cubase as a VST. This makes for a very versatile DAW. If you don't know how to do this, there are many tutorials on youtube that show how.
