I loved The Boss - the name Steve Froggatt is forever stuck in my memory: if he came up for transfer and you bought him, you never regretted it.

I remember this game. You could take out "loans" for negative amounts and thus gain interest.

Thanks for the awesome upload.
I dont know how many hours I spent playing this game as a kid. It was a really fun game even though it looks so primitive these days.
I still remember the excitement sitting staring at the screen waiting for the screen borders to flash, or seeing a Star Player Signed in the News
I later moved to playing The Double which got me equally addicted, but The Boss will always hold a special place in my childhood :-)

Does this bring back memories!
I wrote this game, which was originally called Champions, for the Dragon 32, then converted it to run on many other computers under the name The Boss. When full-price sales ran down, I sold the budget rights to Alternative Software, who marketed it as Soccer Boss, and for one week, it was the top-selling game in the country. The most feature-packed version was on the 48k Spectrum, but I used to enjoy playing it best on an Amstrad.
