Dance Queens of the Nile' will be performed by renowned artists Hossam and Serena Ramzy, and the evening will feature a specially created Egyptian bazaar to ensure a unique experience for one night only.
The distinctive sound of the leading world music artist's passionate percussion with the exciting rhythms of the Hossam Ramzy band of traditional musicians will support Serena's exploration of the traditional dances of the Nile from ancient Egyptian queens to modern fusion, accompanied by guest dancers.
The Friends of the Petrie Museum have organised the show in support of UCL's appeal for a new building for the Petrie Museum, the UCL Institute for Cultural Heritage. The new building will be a major new landmark and visitor attraction for London, housing UCL's art collection, special library collection, Galton collection and Petrie Museum. It will feature innovative exhibition areas, conservation, study and research facilities
The Friends of the Petrie Museum was established in 1988 to encourage greater knowledge, understanding and enjoyment of ancient Egyptian culture as illustrated in the Petrie Museum. It also raises funds to contribute to the conservation, safe-keeping and display both of the collection as a whole and of the individual artefacts within it.
Your performance moved me so much I had to watch it twice. As everyone has said your arm movements are so beautiful. Along with that, I know it takes an enormous amount of stage presence to keep your back to the audience as you did in the beginning and keep everyone at the edge of their seat. Your pauses throughout the dance were as powerful as the dance itself. Bravo to you!
