Heavens to Murgatroid! Until now, I'd only heard Ricky Nelson's version of this 50's classic. Love it! Thanks for sharing this delightful "blast from the past" with us! You've MADE my day & my weekend! CHEERS, mate! :-)
Some trivia: This song was first offered to The Diamonds - after their "Lttle Darlin" million seller. They rejected it - didn't think it would sell. Ricky Nelson picked it up and the rest is...as they say...
@19450william Yep you are right, Sharon wrote it for RN. I like Fleetwoods version, but ricky Nelson backed by the Jordanaires was a masterpiece..We all have different opinions but "The history books will have too say that Ricky Nelson hit the no.1 spot in the UK and USA..Giving him his 1st no.1..Im a huge fan of Rick, Ihave most of his stuff including on VHS "Adventures of Ozzie n Harriet. Plus stuff by Mathew n Gunnar Nelson..
to unmike. I said that she had Rick Nelson 'in mind', not that she wrote it for him specifically. RN, of course, didn't think much of the song at the time; despite the success.

@19450william Not true she wrote about Eddie Cochran who she had a mad crush on and gave it to Eddie, from there it found it's way to Ricky Nelson.
