@pelster93 actually, to be authentic you would just use regular rope/string since they did not use elastic material in the medieval times. when done properly, you can get a lot of force using rope. The torsion causes compression in the rope. the reaction is the energy being released by the untwisting of the rope.
(yeah, elastics are easier, but its not realistic =P)

@BwjGrexxisS torsion is a twisting force
-
ive built it its really simple but very strong its fun to play with
-
i made one the only thing i had problems with was the rubber band so i couldnt finish it
-
try to make a basket for it so you can launch more stuff
-
I thought torsion is a twisting force. In this case, torsion powers the arm to swing forward because the rubber bands are placed around the arm, so when the arm is pulled back, the rubber bands tighten.
can i have directions

If you read the comments you would know that I don't have instructions. My brother made it on a whim and figured it out as he went. It has probably long since been destroyed.

What means torsion?

Torsion is the means by which the arm is pulled back into the ready position.

I don't have any instructions for it, so you're going to have to try and build your own. It looks pretty basic, just try and make one up from the movie footage.
