1952 AJS 18 500 (498cc) Engine manually turning over

Part of my slow restoration of my 1952 AJS 500cc rigid frame.. threw the engine together to see how it fitted and have a mate turning it over with a shifter.
i bought the whole project for 3K 18 months ago......way too much!!
i have since spent approximately another 2k on it and am expecting to spend a further 3-4K
contrary to believe, restoring vehicles isnt always a profitable activity
anyway im having fun and thats all that matters

I'm now about to restory my ajs model 16 with 500 head barrel conversion 1959 that my dad had at 18 been off the road since 1980 ! Will be a challenge as I'm used to jap bikes (jap crap as my dad calls them ) I can't wait :-)
