A New Year, A New Beginning! Obama's Message to Iran & Nowruz Celebrating Nations:
President Obama released a special video message for all those celebrating Nowruz. Translated "New Day," Nowruz marks the arrival of spring and the beginning of the New Year for millions in Iran and other communities around the world. This year, the President wanted to send a special message to the people and government of Iran on Nowruz, acknowledging the strain in our relations over the last few decades. "But at this holiday we are reminded of the common humanity that binds us together," he says.

After committing his administration to a future of honest and respectful diplomacy, he continues on to address Iran's leaders directly: "You, too, have a choice. The United States wants the Islamic Republic of Iran to take its rightful place in the community of nations. You have that right -- but it comes with real responsibilities, and that place cannot be reached through terror or arms, but rather through peaceful actions that demonstrate the true greatness of the Iranian people and civilization. And the measure of that greatness is not the capacity to destroy, it is your demonstrated ability to build and create."

  • If Iran didnt play nuclear Iran would have been like an Iraq and Afghanistan. I dont mind Obama...but talking about peaceful actions from a country which violated United Nations sanctions to invade - for proven lies and falsehoods - other countries is simply undeniable and hypocritical. I dont see how saying one thing and doing another can possibly make what he is saying mean stuff to anyone...

  • I agree with you to some extent, but It's not finished yet. The Iranian officials are risking a lot and the cost of Iranian people and their homeland. If any thing happens to Iran, the ones big mouths run away like mice and the ones who stay at home take the hit.

  • see thats my problem, he said people and the leaders of the islamic republic of iran

wtf, they still dont know the fukin difference

  • You're right. I don't think he cares much about the peopel of Iran, but he wants to look after the US interests despite the leaders of Iran who are looking after interests of their own pocket through Islam and craps like that.

  • Another Obama flip-flop only 3 Years ago :)

  • He made this intriguing gesture in the context of his administration's

decision earlier this month to extend sanctions against Iran for one

more year, on the grounds that Iran poses a threat to the United States'

national security. If sticks and stones speak louder than words, the

American sanctions would seem to convey a much tougher posture than the

conciliatory video message. This would seem to be the first

contradiction the US needs to sort out in its overtures to Iran.

  • Thaks so much
