TOUCHDOWN!! Matt sings Michael Crawford's "Music of the Night" from the musical, "The Phantom of the Opera" by Andrew Lloyd Webber. This was the biggest risk of the night, IMHO.

  • I LOVE U MATT CORBY! ALWAYS HAVE ALWAYS WIIL! i can remember watching u on t.v! ILY ILY ILY ILY <3 I LOVE YOU!

  • This is amazing I love him with with every fibre of my being and whoever says this wasn't very good can go die I love the phantom of the opera and he did it perfectly!!

  • @takemasu45 When somebody says, "That performance was not very good," and indeed it wasn't, in fact, the high caliber performance the musician had in mind...that's really not something that we take personally. We know when we don't sing at our best before anybody even has a chance to respond with the aforementioned fair and general criticism, or with the mean-spirited classic: "YOU SUCK!" I was the first to point out the pitchy parts in my video and didn't even want to post it at first.

  • @takemasu45 ...but it makes sense now. Matt himself would probably AGREE that this is not one of his better performances. That's the thing about musicians: they can look at themselves and not be hesitant to say "oohh...that part of the song wasn't very good." If they can't admit that to themselves, they're not looking for ways to constantly improve.

  • @takemasu45 I made no mention of his current talents whatsoever. I've seen some of his current performances, and they are miles ahead of the performance in the video. I was simply talking about THIS video. I don't believe you can really make unbiased musical analyses of his performances because of your personal connection to Matt through your brother, and I can understand that. I was confused as to why you were being so defensive against a simple objective criticism of this performance...

  • @kgunby No, you're assuming that I'm not comparing him to other top notch singers. He has one of the best technical voices I've ever heard. And I'm not talking about this video, I'm talking about now. My brother is his drummer and I regularly hear Matt sing, and every time it's an absolute knockout. If you were anywhere near as good a singer as him, I'd happily listen to you. But you yourself are an amateur with a "pitchy" voice. But good effort for trying

  • @takemasu45 Unfortunately, he failed to stay on pitch quite a few times during the song. So, objectively, it was not a very good performance since he did not achieve his goal.

  • @takemasu45 If you can OBJECTIFY his voice, that means you have the ability to analyze his technique without any kind of subjective bias. Saying his voice is EXCEPTIONAL is an opinion not based on any solid technical analysis whatsoever, and is therefore subjective. If he was intentionally going out of tune as often as he did for the sake of expressing a unique, weird style, then I guess it would be fair to say that it was a good performance. However, he's TRYING to stay on pitch.

  • @kgunby I disagree actually, it all comes down to personal taste, like everything in this world. If you can objectify a voice like Corbys', you'll see that despite your own values and opinions he has an EXCEPTIONAL voice.

  • @xxBayBeeMeLxx he was going to but didn't want to, so they switched envelopes last minute back stage. My brother is his drummer now, I speak the truth. Not winning is the best thing that happened to his career!
