I CAN DIG IT BABY
Hey babe
You say you want to go out
Have yourself a little fun
I can dig it baby

You say you want to hang out
Find out what life's all about
I can dig it baby

Hey babe
I know you're doing me wrong
I 've been hanging on, that's breaking the law
I can dig it baby

Although you stay up late at night
Wear your dresses way too tight
I can dig it baby

Girl, you party all night long
Living it up and getting it on
I'm so lonely when you're gone
So when you're down and on your own
Oh, I can dig it baby, yeah yeah

Hey babe
You say you want to get high
That is your desire
I can dig it baby

Baby I like what I see
You don't know what you're doing to me
But whatever it is I can dig it baby

Hey girl
You know you gotta get down
Spread your love all over town
I can dig it baby

You say you want to hang out
Find out what love's all about
I can dig it baby

Girl, you party all night long
Living it up and getting it on
I'm so lonely when you're gone
So when you're down and on your own
Oh, I can dig it baby, yeah yeah

I can dig it
I can dig it
I can dig it baby
I can dig it
I can dig it

  • Dowwnload the audio from this clip at soundnabber doht cohm.

  • The subtle referencing of material made famous by bassist Jaco Pastorius at 5:20, has deep personal meaning for me!

The rhythmic subdivision involved in the melodic material played by the bassist at that point uses rhythmic subdivisions of eighth notes as follows: 7 +9+ 7+ 9 +7 +9 for a total of 16 16th notes per bar but which brilliantly omits the first note of the initial group of 7 eithgh notes.

    I can diggit!

    Peace and love

    :-)

  • compositional aspects are difficult to apprehend without the benefit of video on youtube, but thanks for the opportunity. I immersemyself in the feeling and imagination.

  • Bass is brilliant... fills out the bottom and seamlessly provides human expression with melodic leitmotivic activity.

Effortless rhythmic fill material identifies the cultural richness somewhere in the realm of candombe.

Vocal lead is gentle and powerful.

What the world needs is the kind of community cooperation and harmony which is displayed on this track with joy and grace.
