PS - if this message doesn't go right to "John" can you please forward it to him? I feel so bad that I lost his email because he seriously was the nicest man :) Thank you!

This message is for "John Giuffre." Hi John - I hope this is the correct youtube song that you directed me to because I lost the card you gave me that had your email address on it. I only have a blank card for some reason. BTW, this is "Tana," (the girl with the long hair that you met at Petco - remember me??! ;)) I LOVE the song...and I loved meeting you last weekend. Thank you so much for all the "healthy" information that you gave me.

Just discovered this song, Wow! Interesting info too. This has gone straight into my top ten Doo-wop favourites of all time.

True, The Tokens & Neil Sedaka had nothing to do with Never Till Now or Taste of a Tear. Lead singer is John Giuffre with backups by Jimmie Sims, Jerry Vance & John Truscelli. Warwick Records included the two songs in a compilation LP with Neil Sedaka's face on the cover. Recorded at Bell Sound Recording Studio in June 1961. John & Jimmie from Brooklyn wrote Taste of a Tear & Howard Epstein wrote Never Till Now. Johnny & The Tokens was changed to Johnny & the Kings due to not owning the name.

@Curatorwax That is true, there is a copy of the record on ebay currently as Johnny and the Kings - with the same record number that was used to issue it as Johnny And The Tokens

Neil Sedaka is a musical genius.
A contribution such as Neil Sedaka's, spanning 50+ years of singing and songwriting (and spawning hits for so many artists!) should be recognized. Neil's writing clearly had an influence on the development and direction of pop/rock music over several decades.

This is not the Tokens or Neil Sedaka with or without the Tokens. It is Johnny and the Kings. The 45 was first released as Johnny and the Kings. After the Tokens left Warwick records for RCA the record was reissued as Johnny and the Tokens. Totally different group and NO Neil Sedaka. Nice song though.
