This anti-surge valve helps a centrifugal compressor avoid surging, and is designed to open up very quickly when needed. It is a Fisher globe-style control valve, equipped with a special venting relay to rapidly dump diaphragm pressure to atmosphere when needed so the valve's internal spring can work to open it and bypass gas flow.

  • I'm a contractor and we require this type of anti surge valve on our turbine powered axial compressors. What do you recommend for anti surge valve brand or whatever...

  • @tuason33 Sorry, but I don't have any recommendations for you in particular. Mostly I've seen Fisher valves with volume boosters added for fast response. If there is a brand out there specifically made for anti-surge service, I am not aware of it.

  • That device is a Fisher 289RC Exhaust Booster (Release Control). It was specially designed for antisurge valves or recycle valves on compressors. It must be special ordered and is not a stock item for the Fisher Representatives.

  • @tuason33

pneumatic actuator is not ideal for control at these speeds. Electraulic actuators are. you can see a video of one on youtube. search for "turbine bypass actuator". It applies to compressor surge and can be mounted to any manufacturers valve

  • @BTCInstrumentation Thanks anyway. I'm getting quotations from valve manufactures claming they have special valves specifically design for compressor anti surges. My Rolls Royces turbine compressor requires a anti surge valves with a actuation of 0.5 seconds. And with this miliseconds of action, makes its hard for valve manufacturers to meet.
