IBM TV - Smarter Math: Equations for a smarter planet

i love maths <3

I'm a 3-year student of the Nuclear Energy Institute which is in Russia. And I love mathematics.
After I'd seen this vid I understood how my  ambitions may be applied. So I wish I would work in smth like IBM.

cool i hope to someday be a theoretical physicist (im in grade 12 now) and i enjoy math ... well i kinda have to ;)

Nature speaks in the language of maths, that's why it's perfect. Maths is the only science that can prove itself without using other disciplines, that's the reason maths is used in many things. And yes, maths is the only language everybody shares because we're human and we have a mind, a reason which works in a logic way

The message they're trying to convey with this ad: IBM = math = future = your new god

Math, while a useful human invention, has no ethical standards. It can just as easily be just as easily used to make genocide and economic domination (slavery) more efficient as it can to make people more independent and self-reliant. But as for the environment, so far the environment seems to have better success running itself without math, and we'd be better off, if we added some chaos into agriculture.

I love you Drax! Just because every society does not reward the most productive and necessary vocations as heartily as they do the most applied does not mean that the applied sciences are worth more. Without theory, applied sciences are primitive backwaters. Not only that, everyday life is worth more in every way with an understanding of maths. If the measure of life is money, then we are nothing but commodities.
