  • @humppamonsteri It's because that advancement in graphics not only creates more "eye candy".. It immerses you further into the experience.. Not only that, it allows for developers to do more (if they can afford to) and create games they otherwise could not without the power.. I remember opinions like yours back in the sprite days, when polygons first hit the scene.. I'm glad nobody listened to them, because I LOVE me some 3d games!!!

  • People really need to stop using Windows XP.

  • @BigdogWitBigdog

Part of me wonders about that, and if some games from around these years will always be "decently good" or what.

    Who knows.

  • @Sormenkynsi people really need more money

  • @bliglum Ya but i just hope they start focusing on gameplay breakthroughs instead of just trying to make the game look pretty.

  • @halo6534 I guessing you mean MGS 1 for the ps1?? Yes, but today's standards those graphics look "terrible"...but in it's day, those graphics were stunning, some of the best out there, with a very cinematic quality. And no, I'm not one of those tech nerds that thinks games need to be maxed out to be any good, I own a Wii!! That proves it!! But I do appreciate graphical progress.

  • @halo6534 All games will eventually have "bad" graphics so you have a flawed logic. But whatever, the general public doesn't seem to understand that the more technology evolves the immersed we can become.

  • @bliglum Graphics don't immerse you in the experience, the artistic side of it that does that. Look at MGS 1 for the ps2. That game has terrible graphics by todays standards. But it had amazing music and great art style. And that my friend,is what immerse you into a experience Personally i don't give a flying fuck about graphics. As long as a games fun thats all that matters. And if your one of those tech nerds that think games need to be Dx11, full res, highest settings. Then your an idiot.

  • Holy shit tesselation makes heaps of difference! good thing i bought a 6970 last week WOOo!

  • @SuperPopscotch really badly. Using tessellation increases the poly count for objects. Tessellation is pretty cheap these days, throw in a alpha and a normal map on the object, and the system will calculate all the remaining, but it uses a lot of GPU. Check out Parallax mapping also, it's damn awesome, works similar to tessellation, only doesn't increase the poly count.

  • How badly does tessellation affect ur fps?

  • @TheKwod Awwww, sounds like someone got angwy!

I'll tell you right now that I'm no tech nerd, I know barely anything about processors and widgets, but I know when a game looks like shit and when it doesn't.

Games like Crysis are garbage, simply because all they'll ever have to offer is more detail, more "realism", and little to no real artistic direction. If the only thing keeping you playing video games is how far technology can be pushed graphically, I feel sorry for you.
