never heard this before. when you listen to the lyrics you can see why she recorded it. wether she writes or reworks or covers songs she has an amazing track record of producing songs that are considered classic. no one can take that away from here. like her or not.

check out Liz Wright's interpretation...

@plamenlesev I believe she created the vocal melody. M's song and Joe's may have the same words but the vocal melody is completely different. :)

Sopranos!!!!!!!!!!

I love Madonna's version a but can someone explain to me why did she get credited as a co-author of the song?
-
@madewla in fact, it used it in the Sopranos! Season 5 somewhere...

Pretty wicked tune. I can picture this song being used in a Tarantino flick, seriously.

Overall, Madonna's version is my least favorite, but I still like it, because Madonna's hella catchy.

Madonna did what she had to do to make this song marketable for her. I think she did a fabulous job, actually. "Don't Tell Me" was inventive, catchy and just all-around wonderful.
Joe Henry is actually Madonna's brother-in-law. When she heard the song, she commented on how she liked what it said. Mr. Henry gave her permission to record it, and from what I've read he's quite proud of the song.

They are like two different songs - I wouldn't say Madonna's version is inferior - just different.
