This is one of my favorite Mississippi John Hurt songs. In fact I liked it so much, I had to learn it. And to learn it, I had to learn John Hurt style fingerpicking. Well that was a labor of love for sure.

John Hurt created a very beautiful and unique guitar style, a style which isn't heard much these days. Eventually I would like to do a whole album of John Hurt fingerpicking.

For those who don't know, John Hurt was a folk blues musician who first recorded in the 1920s and was then rediscovered during the folk music revival of the 1960s. He played festivals and was able to recorded several more albums before he died in 1966.

Hey, glad you like it. I play by ear, so I don't have the tab--to my knowledge a tab has not been done. It's it open E tuning. I think there is a YouTube video of a guy showing how to play it, but he plays it in open D, which is not quite right. Good luck, it's a challenging song but worth it for sure!

@michaelgerarddejong Yo, dude, that's great to hear. I hadn't heard of Hyves, but it's great to be on there. That sounds awesome about playing Holland and Belgium--I need to do that at some point. Right now I'm actually doing some songwriting for the next album, and then will probably do some recording. But I'll message you at some point and ask you about places to play over there.
