Medieval 2: Total War - Amusing Pope "glitch"

In the Medieval 2: Total War campaign I played as Milan. The rich lands of France was on my doorstep, but if I attacked them it would anger the Pope. Then what should I do? I decided to use the Pope to my advantage, and with a bit of luck I achieved this rather amusing and highly satisfying result.

notice that when you ally with the papal states the popes reputation goes straight to the top. Realistically, the pope has no interest in military alliances. the pope rep on medieval 2 total war is actually relations twisted into "what the pope thinks of you" when it is really your relations with the papal states.That is the unrealistic thing about M2TW. Why dont total war stop being lazy and actually make it what the pope thinks of you, not a twisted relation!!!

I did this once, playing as Spain and getting a Papal navy to help me against Sicily. Trouble was, the Papal States went crazy, captured all of Italy and started expanding through Europe.

not a glitch papal states were allies with milan so it would be only make sense that they supported milan
