This is where it all started for Danny Kaye. After this movie came those beautiful classics, "Wonder Man" in 1945, "The Kid From Brooklyn" in 1946, "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" in 1947, and "A Song is Born" in 1948. Other good ones followed, but these will always be my very favorite Danny Kaye movies. I think this particular scene is the best one in the entire movie; I just love the dancing, the singing, the attire, and the very cool lingo.

  • Anybody know the title of this song?

  • @wwrigle2 This song is called Tess's Torch Song. Dinah Shore has a recording of it by herself and it's available for download. Neat song huh?

  • That goes for me too. I love Danny Kaye and have since I was 5 years old. I'm 21. He is awesome and darn cute too.

  • I loooove this scene! It is timeless, jumpin', and charming. Danny Kaye and Dinah Shore had chemistry in this.

  • Danny Kaye was so multi talented as a fabulous jazz trumpet player, comedian, great dancer and orchestral conductor. The man did it all. He was one of Louis Armstrong's best friends and did several trumpet duets together. He was also a great singer! Thank you for posting this.

  • Probably the most frightening three minutes in the history of film.

  • To Theodorebear2009;

    Thanks for the info, so I can add it to my music lists. By the way, I already downloaded it from Yutube and now have in my Various Videos series.

  • @ScoutCrafter - ". . . keeping up with Danny": My words exactly. This bit really increased my admiration for Dinah; I hadn't realized that she was such a dynamic gal! This makes me wish we had seen more of them working together.

  • Well who wasn't in love with Danny Kaye.. lol
